Stillwater Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1990 as Payne County Habitat for Humanity and officially granted affiliate and nonprofit status on February 10, 1991. For more than three decades, we have partnered with families, volunteers, and supporters to build safe, affordable homes and strengthen our community here in Stillwater and Payne County.
Our work centers on partnership. Each home is built alongside future homeowners, who invest hundreds of hours of sweat equity—working on their own home, helping build others, and completing financial and homeowner education. Construction is ongoing, and each new build represents another family moving toward stability and opportunity through homeownership.
Volunteers are the heart of Stillwater Habitat. From skilled tradespeople to first-time builders, their time and talent make our mission possible. Supporting them is a small, dedicated staff committed to thoughtful planning, strong stewardship, and long-term impact as we work to eliminate substandard housing in our community.
Faith partnerships have been foundational to Habitat’s mission from the beginning. Local congregations provide critical spiritual, financial, and volunteer support, and Stillwater Habitat continues to seek covenant relationships with faith communities that share a commitment to serving neighbors in need.
Together, we believe affordable housing builds stronger families—and a stronger Stillwater.
